Time For Winter Paintballs
As it gets colder and colder, it's time to switch over to a paintball with a winter shell. The shell of a normal paintball gets more brittle as the temperature drops, which can cause the ball to break either in your loader (especially if you've got a cyclone feed) or in your barrel (especially if you use a gun that operates at high pressure like a BT Delta or a Tippmann X7).
Most manufacturers don't change the fill in the winter because it doesn't usually help the paintball perform any better in extreme conditions.
A winter shell is a little thicker and can withstand the cold temperatures. According to Mark from Kee Action Sports, most paintball manufacturers start using a "winter blend" in their shell formula in October through February. This helps to ensure that when you buy your normal paint from the paintball shop you get a little bit thicker shell.

RAP4's Dimpled Paintballs
RAP4 recently introduced its G.O.L.F. (Guided Optimum Longer Flight) paintballs boasting a minimum 3-year shelf life, increased weather resistance, improved accuracy, and longer flight. The difference in this paintball as compared to others is a wax shell with golfball-like dimples and a powder fill.
The dimples improve aerodynamics of golfballs, paintballs, and even cars as seen in Mythbuster's Clean vs. Dirty Car episode.

They will soon release their paint filled version, but have not released how much they'll be.
I'll definitely pick up 500 of the paint filled ones and post a review on them when they're available. I'm sure they'll be a hot item as long as the shell is brittle enough to break on those longer-range targets.

How We Can Help Your Field
We help paintball fields in a variety of ways to ensure that the players have a great time and the field owners are more successful. Paint Army can help your field:
Spread the word about your upcoming event.
Spread the word about your upcoming event.
We have several recreational players on our contact list who enjoy playing in woodsball and scenario paintball games. Higher attendance means more action-packed games for your players and increased success for your field.
Write action-packed scenario games.
We know that today's recreational paintball player wants more than just "capture the flag" or "rescue the downed pilot". We write challenging scenario games that test your player's skills and tactics. We'll help ensure you get the players coming back for more events at your field.
Provide online event registration.
Online registration makes it easy for the players to register 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. It also makes it easier for you to manage and prepare for the game.
Coordinate the games on game day.
We understand how busy the administration of your event can be on game day. We'll help manage the game play and scoreboard while you focus on safety, checking players in, paint sales, air fills, and referee management.
Contact Dustin at dustin@paintarmy.com or call 405-201-2935. We would be glad to help.
